NEW PROJECTS –

1) NURSE TRAINING FOR NOKUTULA

In order to continue to provide ongoing medical care for the children and community we are thrilled to have arranged a place for Noktula, one of the house mothers , to be trained in South Africa. Out of 18 people who went for the three day interview only six were accepted and she was one of the best! The course begins in January 2010 and runs intensively until December. Fees are due in advance and we have said we will guarantee this. We are now seeking to fund raise to cover the £ 3000 needed.

Progress

One very generous couple  have said they will pay £1000 , we have also received R5000 (£450) locally. If you feel you could help train Noktula please send donations to The Homestead Trust – marked for Nurse training costs.

2) SWAZILAND TEAM November 2010-  We are intending to lead a team to Swaziland from the UK in November 2010. This will be an opportunity to engage in activities such as health care teaching, life skills teaching , practical work in the rural community , craft skill training, feeding programme , youth and childrens centre work.etc. Some team members with medical skills would be of value. Do you have a craft or a skill which you could teach to locals during the trip? Trip includes a planned visit to a wildlife park.

3) SEEDS FOR SWAZILAND - Seeds transported from UK are now being used to grow seedlings and plants for local homesteads.

4) FEEDING STATION -  We are involved in negotions to establish a UNICEF feeding station in the local area

5) BOOKS / BOOK BOXES - Lists of needed books being made - could you help provide? Preparations being made for lending book boxes to be distributed.

6) SPECS -Thanks to Sandra Walker ( an optician) who has been providing much welcome "ready reader " glasses.

Marion Walker Memorial

The Walker family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to all for the sympathy , prayers , thoughts and kindness which have been extended to them in the recent sudden loss of Marion (mum) Walker.
Marion ( and her late husband Aubrey) were both very active Christians supporting gospel outreach and charitable care both at home and around the world. Marion was very supportive of work amongst children. Therefore,  the family feel it appropriate in naming the library, to be set up at the children's centre in Swaziland, in her memory...
